About Rich Hanssen

Rich grew up in Davenport, Florida and joined the United States Air Force (USAF) in January, 1982. After completing training at Fort Leonardwood, Missouri as a Heavy Equipment Operator he was assigned to the 823rd CES Red Horse Squadron, Hurlburt Field, Florida. In August 1986 he retrained as a Computer Technician at Keesler, AFB, where he was subsequently assigned. Then in December 1991 he applied and was accepted for a special duty assignment in Professional Military Education. He served as the Airman Leadership School Commandant at Hahn Air Base, Germany and then at RAF Chicksands, England. In 1995 he returned to Keesler AFB and served as Computer Systems Training, Element Chief and Local Area Network, Superintendent, 336 Training Squadron, Keesler AFB.
